Ahoy Matey!

Following the reading of Grandma and the Pirates and making noodle pudding, we made pirate ships in Art class with Mrs. Gillander!

Choosing colours to blend for a sky and then making waves in the blue paint with our fingers was so creative and fun!

Everyone made the hull of the ship and masts out of brown construction paper and then designed pictures for the sails that tell a story.  We love how they look in the hallway!

Grandma's Noodle Pudding

Our feature author this week has been Phoebe Gilman.  We enjoyed the Jillian Jiggs books and Something from Nothing  which I told them was my son Joel's favourite book many years ago.  I can still read most of it from memory!

We were surprised to find that in Ontario, there is an elementary school named after Phoebe Gilman.

Below is a picture of the first page of Grandma and the Pirates.  We thought that was a great first sentence for a story!

We tried out Noodle Pudding! This is the recipe we used to make it!

Everyone who wanted one got a taste. There were mixed reviews on the taste but it sure smelled good!

Stained Glass Mittens

Our first Art project of 2019 was a complex multi-step process with tissue paper, clear plastic and black construction paper to hang in the classroom windows.  White glue and yarn helped to hold everything together to display.  Drive by and take a look!
